7. Where is my New Mexico Food Handler Card valid?

Food Service Prep's Food Handler is valid everywhere in New Mexico, although Albuquerque or Bernalillo counties do not require it.

8. How long is my food handler card or certificate valid?

The New Mexico Food Handler certificate is valid for 3 years after being issued. The issue date will be listed on the certificate.

9. Is a Food Handler Certificate the same as a Food Safety Card?

Yes, a Food Handler Certificate is the same as a Food Safety Certificate, Food Handler Card, or Food Handling Card.

10. If I have Food Manager Certification, do I also need to have a food handler certificate?

No, you do not need both a Food Manager Certification and a basic Food Handler. New Mexico will accept a food manager certification from an accredited program instead of a food handler certificate.

11. Do I need a New Mexico Food Handler Certificate if I am selling baked goods from my home kitchen?

Yes, all homemade food sellers in New Mexico required to complete and maintain a currently valid food handler certificate. The New Mexico Food Handler will meet the requirements.
